How Did Women Stay Fit in the 1950’s?
I spent the weekend watching classic movies on TMC.
The thing that caught my eye was that the women were so tiny. Sure, there are tiny women today but you don’t see waistlines like that too often.
Being the curious person I am, I started to wonder what those women do that we don’t do. I came across an article that attributed home made foods, lower calories, and strenuous housework to the reason that 50’s housewives were more fit than women are today.
It was an interesting read but I’m not using it as an excuse to start bashing women today. We get enough of that everywhere else, we don’t need it here.
Would You Go to a Fit Camp?
If you’ve been reading this blog for any amount of time you’ll notice that I am rather sensitive to the word fat and try very hard to avoid using it. As I’ve explained before it’s gone from being a legit description, to being something you say to insult someone so I try to eliminate it from my vocab.
That being said, the question probably should be Would You Go to a Fat Camp?, but I prefer to say Fit Camp.
Sometimes I think I’d want to go to a camp or a place like The Biggest Loser but only for a short period of time- like a week. Sometimes I just need a kickstart but I don’t like people telling me what to do.
The thought popped in my mind again when I read this post on weight loss camp. If I was the girl in the panties I’d be pretty upset that someone not only took a picture, but then put it on the internet but that’s just me.
So what about you, would you go to a weight loss camp if you could?
Yes, You Can!
You can accomplish whatever you set your mind out to accomplish.
Stop doubting yourself! Get rid of that negativity.
If you are determined to get in better shape then you will.
If you are determined to have more energy then you will.
If you put your mind to reaching a realistic goal then nothing can stop you!
After all, if you don’t believe in yourself then who do you expect to believe in you?
Nothing worth having is just going to fall in your lap- you actually have to work for it.
So let’s start this week with a positive outlook because you CAN do whatever you set out to do!
Casting Call: Biggest Loser Season 9
The Biggest Loser is casting family members for season 9.
If you both are over 18 by 9/21/09 and have at least 100 lbs to lose, you can audition to be on the show.
Here are some audition tips
For those of us don’t don’t have 100lbs to lose and/or don’t want to be on TV like that, I recommend buying the DVD’s. It’s not the same of course, but I just happen to like working out at home.
