This is Why People Have Self Esteem Issues

I admire women who are very confident in who they are. It doesn’t matter if you are a size 6 or a size 26; I’m always inspired by women who are comfortable with how they look. I think it’s rare for women to be satisfied with their appearance and it’s easy to see why. If you are a size 12 you just have to get to a size 8. If you are a size 6 you just have to get down to a 4. Then once you’ve hit the size you want to be, other issues start popping up. “Why do my arms look like this?” “Maybe my nose needs a little work” it’s just a never ending cycle and I am sick of it.
But how do you stop it when you are surrounded by images that constantly say “you are not good enough?” Even when you finally think that the media is being more accepting you are proved wrong. [See above images]
But the real question is, who is behind this? Is the media to blame or are we to blame? Do we really want to see people who look like us on magazine covers or would we be appalled? Would we really cheer and say “that’s what I’m talking about?” or would we find something to criticize?
