It’s Not Fat, It’s Curvy
I don’t like the word fat.
Maybe you’ve noticed that I hardly use the word if I use it at all.
It’s not that I have a problem with what it means, because hey, fat is fat. We all have fat. We need fat to live. But it’s just that the meaning has changed.
Now when you hear “fat” a lot of times its accompanied by “lazy”, “dumb”, “nasty”, “gross”; and pretty soon fat seems to mean all of those things.
It’s become such a hatefilled word.
You know there’s a problem when being called fat could be considered one of the biggest insults in the world. You know there’s a problem when teenagers are saying they’d rather be dumb, or have a sixth toe than to be fat.
Even in the so-called “fat movement” I still don’t like the word. I think it’s good that people are trying to turn a negative into a positive but the mission hasn’t been accomplished yet.
So until something changes I’ll be sticking to my “curvy” and “overweight”. In my opinion, it’s a lot more classy than “fat”.
