Can Anorexia be Predicted?
A new study says that factors that predispose someone to anorexia are developed in the womb.
According to the Guardian, one of the authors of the study, Ian Frampton said, “Our research shows that certain kids’ brains develop in such a way that makes them more vulnerable to the more commonly-known risk factors for eating disorders, such as the size-zero debate, media representations of very skinny women and bad parents.”
The study was revealed at a conference at the Institute of Education in London.
There have been some criticisms of this study saying that this is just another way for pharmaceutical companies to profit; where there is a disease caused by your brain and not society, there is a pill to cure it.
